1. What was your line of thought before joining the course at FAD?
Since after I graduated from Loyola College, Chennai, I always wanted to become a photographer. I still remember that day when I was searching on net for a photography Institute. Luckily I found FAD. I was happy when I came to know that the institute is in Pune and more happy when I read the details about FAD.
I just said to myself “Go and learn as much as you can and become what you want to become – A photographer”
2. Any fond memories at FAD?
Yes, a lot. How can I forget those cream rolls with chai (tea) which was an unavoidable routine for me with my colleague and my teacher Raj during the break-time.
3. How did your career develop?
I use to read many books on life of many great photographer’s. I also wanted to be like them. This was the turning point of my career. It wouldn’t have been possible for me to become a photographer without FAD. Whatever I am today is all because of FAD.
4. Who has inspired you?
It will be Rajesh Banny, my teacher. Photography is a very challenging career but Raj never let me feel that I cannot do it. He equipped me with all the knowledge of photography and made me strong enough to face all the challenges. If at all Raj you are reading this, remember once I told you that you will be proud of your students someday. Today, all your students are doing great and I am also one among them. We all love you and remember you everyday.
5. Any alternative fields where students with similar qualifications can look into?
As a start up one can work as a continuity photographer or get into cruise line as a photographer. They also have options to work with Production House or work with a Fashion designer as they are always in needs of Photographer.
6. Which path do you wish to tread 5 years down the line? (Work with someone or start your own enterprise?)
I would love to work with someone, travel the whole world. But yes of course, I would also love to start my own enterprise, someday.
7. What has been your most interesting experience at work so far?
My most interesting experience at work so far is while shooting kids. You will laugh seeing me running after them just to get a good shot. Most kids are naughty but they are adorable.
8. How was the transition from being a student to now, working in the professional field?
I find a huge difference. When I was a student, I was just learning photography and all my works was according to my thinking. Now, as a working professional I have to think about my Client taste as well.
9.Tell us a little bit about your work, your label and your forte.
I work with a company where we shoot portraits, kid’s photography, family photography and many more. I also teach photography to young photographer’s in the Company. I am working as a senior photographer. My forte is teaching Photography.
10. Advise to young design professionals.
Unlike any other profession, photography requires lots of patience. Never give up.
Just work hard, your goal is just a step away. “Rise and rise again until lamb becomes Lion”.
