1. What was your line of thought before joining the course at FAD?

Before joining FAD, I was a confused person which I believe everyone is when they are in college or just young. However, the foundation course exposed me to different fields and really built my skills. It is a decision that I am glad I made as without it, I wouldn't be where I am today.

2. Any fond memories at FAD?

Europe study tour : It was in Rome while we were shooting for our collection. It was absolutely cold and we were off on the streets posing and having people take pictures of us. A lot of fooling around in the rooms, jokes etc. Good times!

3. How did your career develop?

I do not have a career yet as I'm still studying. However, I do see myself gaining a lot of experience with different designers (starting with an internship at DKNY for 2012) and building myself up to a place where I’m confident enough to have a label under me.

4. Who has inspired you?

An overused statement perhaps but it would definitely be my parents. The strength that my mother has held with her throughout her journey, is something I wish I have on mine. The hard working person that my father is who I’ve honestly never seen complaint, is someone I hope I’m becoming.

I am inspired by the desire to posses these qualities and to be the best I can.

5. Any alternative fields where students with similar qualifications can look into?

There is a lot of scope for everyone and a lot of options as well. For example, Textiles, Knitwear, Embroidery etc. Since I’ve only done a foundation course before this, I would say a student could look into any of the fields they explore during the course.

6. Which path do you wish to tread 5 years down the line? (Work with someone or start    your own enterprise?)

Like I mentioned before, I would want to gain a lot of experience in the field of fashion. Working with different designers would expose me to different patterns of work, different fields to specialise in, thereby improving my skills. There still is a lot for me to learn and look forward to. Once I feel I have all the skills I need, the knowledge I’ve gained, you could possibly be buying something (expensive :) ) from my label.

7. What has been your most interesting experience at work so far?

Every bit of it is interesting. It was interesting when I got my very first project as I was introduced to a whole different side of fashion (oblivious to knitwear before). It can be complicated and intimidating, but there is nothing more challenging than overcoming all of it. It is a very interesting course, I absolutely enjoy knitting and it is nothing what people think it to be.

8. How was the transition from being a student at FAD to now, studying in International Universities?

It has been quite a long journey (already!). Every step you take, you learn something new, make mistakes and build your way through it. I have realised a lot of things on coming here. The long hours, the multi tasking, deadlines etc it really is all possible with the organisation of time. It honestly is a preparation for the future. It can be stressful but is absolutely worth it when you've achieved what you've aimed for. When I look back, I realise how it was only building and teaching me what I would be looking forward to in the next stage of life.

9. Tell us a little bit about your work and your forte.

Well I have always thought that I’ve been interested in Fashion but knitwear is such an additional knowledge to have and a really good one seeing as how it has made its way through the industry. I generally love working with feminine themes but I am trying to experiment and step outside my comfort zone. Currently, I’m working on a project called '360 Degrees'. I'm looking at traces left behind by the extinction of marine animals (fossils), insects, celtic knot work etc.  It will include 3D forms and a lot of textures, also inspired by nature and partially Global Warming. Mark Fast is one of the designers I will be taking inspiration from.

10. Advise to young design professionals.

Let your future act as a motivation. Where is it that you see yourself?

Work towards it everyday and be patient. You'll see your future turn into your present.
