PG Luxury & Fashion Management students visit the school of craft renown for working with global fashion houses such as Dior, Dolce & Gabbana.
PG Luxury and Fashion Management students from FAD Pune campus received the opportunity to visit The Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai under the supervision of the HOD of PG Luxury & Fashion Management (Pune Campus) - Ankita Brahmi, for an industry visit as a part of their course curriculum.
Known for creating the extraordinary, Chanakya School of Craft is inspired by timelessness and rarity while having an incredible global recognition. A captivating knowhow of master crafts covering over 300 techniques is taught, as CSC collaborates with global fashion houses like Dior, Dolce and Gabbana etc to extensively research, design and produce high-fashion garments and accessories.
In a brief tête-à-tête, the principal of the school explained the students how Chanakya’s curriculum not just trains, but grooms the women artisans on various fronts like professional development and interpersonal skills.
The love affair between luxury powerhouses like Fendi, Lanvin, Gucci and Indian embroideries date back to several years. But it was under Maria Grazia Chiuri’s mentorship, that it received a global hallmark with Chanakya School of Craft.
The industry visit was intended to facilitate a discussion on social economic sustainability and luxury’s role towards the same. The students were welcomed into the board room where they were given insights of CSC’s journey, value chain systems and their contribution to various beloved couture collections.
The students then moved to the massive pristine space, which was nothing short of an art gallery, and is also the address where they archive Dior Savoir Faire samples. Following this, the students were ushered into the atelier and to the awe of everyone they witnessed, the making of the Spring Summer 2023 collection samples for some of the most revered brands in the world.
FAD aims to put forward industry visits like the above to persuade the students to level up their determination and creativity to make a mark of their own in the fashion industry.
