Hanan Bešović, aka @ideservecouture, joined us on campus for a conversation on fashion commentary and critiquing.

FAD recently welcomed Hanan Bešović, the voice behind @ideservecouture, for a conversation that lived up to its billing, sharp, funny and unfiltered in a way students rarely get from industry commentary. Hanan walked through his own origin story, from an account that started with no roadmap to becoming one of the most recognised voices in fashion commentary today, now welcomed into the same shows and rooms he once critiqued from the outside.

The conversation moved through the questions that actually define his work: what it means to build credibility without a traditional fashion journalism background, whether access has made criticism harder rather than easier, and the sharper question of who gets to call themselves a critic in an industry now full of opinions. Hanan didn't offer easy answers, which is precisely what made the session land.
What stayed with the room was how little distance Hanan kept, no rehearsed talking points, no guarded industry-speak, just a direct account of what it actually took to build a voice from scratch. It was the kind of session students don't just attend, they leave quoting.

Students left with a rare, honest account of what it takes to build an independent voice in fashion, and the reminder that credibility, in the end, is earned in public, one post at a time.
