A student-led editorial exploring the tension between structure and disruption gets featured by 17.23 Magazine, spotlighting concept-driven styling and visual storytelling.

On The Edge of Chaos, a fashion editorial conceptualised and executed by FAD Styling students, has been featured in the January issue of 17.23 Magazine.

Developed under the creative direction of Andy Barve - Head of Styling Department, the editorial explores the tension between order and chaos through a strong visual narrative. Structured silhouettes are contrasted with experimental styling, reflecting how fashion can communicate emotion, disruption and individuality.

The aesthetic leans into a dark, moody palette, enhanced by dramatic beauty looks and abstract backdrops that reinforce the concept. Styling plays a central role, with carefully composed silhouettes that balance structure with fluidity. Layering becomes a key technique - bringing together knit textures, sheer fabrics, lace and sculptural forms to create depth and dimension.

Accessories are used with intention, from statement headpieces to layered jewellery, adding to the narrative without overpowering it. The looks merge contrasting elements - vintage with contemporary, minimal with bold, and ethereal with street - resulting in a visually cohesive yet experimental editorial language.

Projects like these highlight the importance of concept-driven styling, enabling students to translate ideas into impactful visual outcomes while building practical experience across the creative process.
