FAD students explored the philosophy and craftsmanship behind Garuda, learning from the Founder, how modular design, and strategic storytelling shape the label.

FAD hosted Suhail Sahrawat, Founder of Garuda, for an immersive masterclass that offered students a rare glimpse into the craftsmanship and concept-driven philosophy behind one of India’s most innovative emerging labels.

Founded in 2015, Garuda is known for sculptural silhouettes, modular designs, and an approach where construction drives creativity, blending fashion, architecture, and design thinking. Suhail shared the brand’s journey from New Zealand to India, showcasing key pieces and explaining the technicalities behind wrap skirts, modular jackets, and architectural ensembles.

The session included a student-led Q&A, exploring Garuda’s modular systems, product architecture, and curated collection strategy, as well as the brand’s conscious approach to marketing through storytelling rather than logos. Suhail also shared insights into entrepreneurship, balancing experimentation with commercial awareness, and maintaining a distinctive creative identity.
